My personal preference is to start with a neutral palette (paint, couches, furniture, etc...)
With that said....
I LOVE accessories and fabric!!! I feel they are a great and inexpensive way to get a lot of different looks...and all you have to do is change out your pillows...well kind of :)
So starting with a neutral palette you will have A LOT of different options and if you're anything like me...I love to change things up! I get sick of looking at the same old thing month after month. I need change, I need to be creative and most of all I love making things!

As you can see I have neutral walls (from Home Depot- Baked Scone), neutral couches (actually they were not expensive...Martha Stewart and I hate to say this, but they are from Kmart and we got a deal on them! I don't care where things are from, as long as they are good quality, in my budget and fits with my style!) and our furniture is all black (I painstakingly painted them). So from there I am able to change things around. I love mixing different styles, pattern, fabrics....I guess that's the eclectic look!
